Grade II Listed House, Carmarthenshire

This retrofit scheme was to provide this Grade II listed estate managers house with a total space heating and DHW solution to the property. Constructed in the late 1800’s the house is of solid wall construction with traditional timber sash windows.

The owner was looking for a more economical and environmentally friendly way of heating the property. The availability of an adjacent outbuilding provided the ideal space for  the installation of an automated vacuum fed 15 kW Biotech Toplight biomass wood pellet boiler with 5 tonne pellet silo connected to the house through underground insulated pipes.

This means that a years supply of pellets can be delivered by lorry and blown into the silo.  They are then sucked into the boiler through a vacuum system. 

The system is also fitted with a twin coil cylinder that will enable the owner to fit a solar thermal system at some future date.
